Steamed mussels have a rich history dating back to ancient times, with evidence of their consumption found in Roman and Greek cultures. This delectable dish gained popularity in Belgium and France, where it became a staple in coastal regions. Chefs in these areas perfected the art of steaming mussels, often using white wine, garlic, and herbs to enhance the natural flavors of the shellfish. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in renowned seafood restaurants along the coasts of Belgium and France. The key to a perfect steamed mussel dish lies in using fresh, high-quality mussels and infusing them with the right combination of flavors.
