Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 lb ground lamb or beef, 1 small grated onion, 2 minced cloves of garlic, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp ground coriander, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, and 1 egg. Mix well until combined.

Turkish Kofte, a traditional dish of seasoned ground meat shaped into balls or patties, has a rich history dating back to the Ottoman Empire. This flavorful dish is a staple in Turkish cuisine, often enjoyed with a side of tzatziki sauce, a creamy yogurt-based condiment with hints of garlic and cucumber. Renowned chefs in Istanbul, such as Mehmet Gurs, have elevated the art of crafting the perfect kofte, using a blend of spices like cumin, paprika, and mint. While the best version of this dish can be found in local Turkish eateries, home cooks can achieve authentic flavors by focusing on the quality of the meat and mastering the seasoning blend.
