Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) of firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes.
  • In a shallow dish, toss the tofu cubes with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until evenly coated.
  • Place the coated tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other.
  • Air fry the tofu for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • While the tofu is cooking, prepare the spicy sriracha glaze. In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sriracha sauce, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the glaze thickens slightly.
  • Once the tofu is crispy and golden brown, remove it from the air fryer and transfer to a large bowl. Pour the spicy sriracha glaze over the tofu and gently toss to coat evenly.
  • Return the glazed tofu to the air fryer basket and air fry for an additional 5 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
  • Enjoy the spicy sriracha glazed air fryer tofu as an appetizer or as a main course with rice or noodles.

Spicy Sriracha Glazed Air Fryer Tofu is a modern twist on a classic Asian dish. This flavorful and crispy tofu dish has its roots in the vibrant street food culture of Southeast Asia, where bold flavors and innovative cooking techniques collide. Renowned chefs in cities like Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City have perfected this dish, infusing it with the fiery heat of Sriracha sauce and the crispy texture of air-fried tofu. The key to achieving the perfect balance of heat and sweetness lies in the glaze, which is made from a blend of Sriracha, soy sauce, and a touch of honey. For the best version of this dish, head to trendy Asian fusion restaurants in cosmopolitan cities like Los Angeles or New York. The key to getting this dish right is to ensure the tofu is well-drained and marinated before air frying, resulting in a crispy exterior and a tender interior. For a famous alternative method, some chefs prefer to pan-fry the tofu and then toss it in the spicy Sriracha glaze for a slightly different texture. Whether you're a tofu aficionado or just looking to spice up your weeknight dinner, Spicy Sriracha Glazed Air Fryer Tofu is a must-try dish that will tantalize your taste buds.
