Quiche, a savory French tart, has a rich history dating back to the medieval German kingdom of Lothringen. The dish's name is derived from the German word "kuchen," meaning cake. It gained popularity in France during the 19th century, particularly in the Lorraine region. Renowned chefs like Auguste Escoffier and Julia Child helped popularize quiche internationally. The classic quiche Lorraine, with its creamy custard filling, bacon, and cheese, remains a favorite. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in traditional French bistros and patisseries. The key to a perfect quiche lies in the buttery, flaky crust and a well-balanced, flavorful filling.
