- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup olive oil, 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, 1 teaspoon chopped thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the shrimp. Seal the bag and toss to coat the shrimp evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the shrimp onto skewers, if desired, for easier grilling.
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp as they can become tough.
- Remove the shrimp from the grill and serve immediately. Enjoy the zesty and flavorful lemon herb grilled shrimp!
Lemon Herb Grilled Shrimp is a classic dish that has its roots in Mediterranean cuisine. The dish is believed to have originated in the coastal regions of Greece and Italy, where fresh seafood is abundant. Renowned chefs like Jamie Oliver and Ina Garten have popularized their own versions of this delectable dish, infusing it with their unique culinary styles. The key to perfecting this dish lies in the quality of the ingredients, particularly the freshness of the shrimp and the balance of the zesty lemon and aromatic herbs. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in seaside restaurants along the Mediterranean coast, where the shrimp is grilled to perfection over open flames, infusing it with a smoky, charred flavor that complements the bright citrus and herbaceous notes. Whether served as an appetizer or a main course, Lemon Herb Grilled Shrimp is a delightful dish that captures the essence of coastal dining.
