Ingredients
- 1 block (14 oz) of firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of water
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Pour the cornstarch mixture over the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat evenly.
- Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is crispy and golden brown.
- While the tofu is baking, prepare the spicy peanut sauce. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce, 1 clove of minced garlic, and 1/4 cup of water. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth and heated through.
- Once the tofu is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve the crispy baked tofu with the spicy peanut sauce, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
