- Serve the spicy Vada Pav with chutney spread immediately and enjoy!
Vada Pav, also known as the "poor man's burger," originated in Mumbai, India. This iconic street food consists of a spicy potato fritter (vada) sandwiched in a pav, a soft bread roll. The history of Vada Pav dates back to the 1960s when Ashok Vaidya, a snack vendor, created this flavorful snack. The spicy chutney spread, made with a blend of green chilies, garlic, and other aromatic spices, adds a fiery kick to the dish. Today, numerous street vendors and eateries across Mumbai serve this beloved snack, with some renowned spots including Ashok Vada Pav and Anand Stall. The key to a perfect Vada Pav lies in the crispy vada, soft pav, and the fiery chutney spread, which must strike the right balance of heat and flavor.
