Italian

Tortellini is a classic Italian pasta, hailing from the Emilia-Romagna region. Legend has it that its shape was inspired by Venus's navel, and it has been a beloved dish for centuries. This small, ring-shaped pasta is typically filled with a mixture of meats, cheeses, and herbs, and is often served in a flavorful broth or with a rich sauce. Chefs in Bologna, the birthplace of tortellini, are renowned for their skill in crafting these delicate parcels. Today, the best tortellini can still be found in Bologna, where it's a staple on menus in traditional trattorias. The key to perfect tortellini lies in the filling, which should be a harmonious blend of flavors, and the pasta, which should be thin and tender. While the traditional method involves hand-rolling and shaping the pasta, modern variations may use pasta machines for efficiency. Whether enjoyed in a cozy Italian kitchen or at a top-notch restaurant, tortellini continues to delight food lovers around the world.
