  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

  • Broil the salmon for 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and the glaze is caramelized and bubbly.
  • Remove the salmon from the oven and brush with the remaining teriyaki glaze. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.

Japanese

Teriyaki glazed salmon has a rich history rooted in Japanese culinary traditions. The dish originated in Japan, where it was prepared by marinating fresh salmon in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Over time, this dish gained popularity and spread to other parts of the world, including the United States. Renowned chefs like Nobu Matsuhisa have elevated the dish by incorporating their own unique twists, making it a staple in high-end restaurants. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in top sushi restaurants and Japanese eateries, where the key lies in sourcing high-quality salmon and mastering the art of the teriyaki glaze. Whether grilled, broiled, or pan-seared, the succulent and tender texture of the salmon, combined with the sweet and savory teriyaki glaze, creates a harmonious flavor profile that continues to captivate food enthusiasts worldwide.
