Taquitos, also known as flautas, are a beloved Mexican dish with a rich history. These crispy, rolled tacos are typically filled with shredded meat, such as chicken or beef, and then fried to perfection. The origins of taquitos can be traced back to the Mexican state of Cuernavaca, where they were first created. Today, taquitos can be found in restaurants and homes across Mexico and the United States, with each region adding its own unique twist to the dish. Some chefs prefer to use corn tortillas for an authentic flavor, while others opt for flour tortillas for a softer texture. The key to a delicious taquito lies in the filling, which should be well-seasoned and tender. Whether enjoyed with guacamole, salsa, or sour cream, taquitos are a flavorful and satisfying treat that continues to delight food lovers around the world. For the best taquitos, head to Mexico City, where you can savor this iconic dish in its place of origin.
