Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 24 round dumpling wrappers
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together 1 lb of ground chicken, 1/2 cup of finely chopped green onions, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tbsp of sriracha sauce, 1 tsp of sesame oil, and 1/2 tsp of ground ginger.
- Place a small spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold over, and press to seal.
- Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2 minutes.
- Carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for about 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
- Remove the lid and continue to cook until the water has evaporated and the bottoms of the dumplings are crispy.
- Serve the spicy chicken dumplings hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Spicy chicken dumplings have a rich history dating back to ancient China, where they were initially created as a way to utilize leftover meat and vegetables. These delectable dumplings gained popularity in the Sichuan region, known for its bold and fiery flavors. Renowned chefs like Chef Wang in Chengdu have perfected the art of crafting these mouthwatering morsels, infusing them with a tantalizing blend of spicy seasonings and tender chicken. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in authentic Sichuan restaurants, where the key to achieving the perfect spicy chicken dumplings lies in the balance of heat from chili peppers and the savory essence of the chicken filling. For those seeking a famous alternative, the "water-boiled" method, where the dumplings are simmered in a spicy broth, offers a unique and equally delicious twist on this classic dish.
