Soy-Glazed Tofu with Extra Spicy Sauce
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 block (14 oz) of firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and 1/4 cup water to make the soy glaze. Set aside.
- In a large non-stick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour the prepared soy glaze into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Add 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce for extra spiciness. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss to coat with the soy glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the tofu through and allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the soy-glazed tofu over cooked rice and drizzle with any remaining sauce. Enjoy!
