Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, crack 4 large eggs and add 2 tablespoons of milk, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Whisk the egg mixture until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow the butter to melt and coat the bottom of the skillet.
- Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and let it sit for a few seconds until the edges start to set.
- Using a spatula, gently push the cooked edges towards the center of the skillet, allowing the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges.
- Continue to gently fold and push the eggs until they are mostly set but still slightly runny.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the residual heat finish cooking the eggs to your desired consistency.
- Serve the scrambled eggs immediately and enjoy!
Scrambled eggs have a rich history dating back to ancient times, with evidence of egg dishes being enjoyed by the Romans and Greeks. In the 14th century, the French were known for their "brouillade" - a dish similar to scrambled eggs. Fast forward to the 20th century, and renowned chef Julia Child popularized the dish in the United States, emphasizing the importance of using fresh, high-quality eggs. Today, chefs around the world put their own spin on this classic, with variations ranging from creamy French-style eggs to fluffy American-style scrambles. For the best version, seek out farm-fresh eggs and consider adding a touch of cream for extra richness. In terms of alternative methods, some chefs swear by adding a dollop of crème fraîche or even a splash of sparkling water to achieve the perfect texture. For a truly exceptional experience, visit a farm-to-table restaurant known for sourcing the finest local eggs and watch as skilled chefs transform this humble ingredient into a culinary masterpiece.
