Queso and chips, a beloved Tex-Mex dish, have a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Originating in the border regions of Texas and Mexico, this iconic appetizer has become a staple in Mexican and Texan cuisine. The creamy, melted cheese dip, often infused with tomatoes, chilies, and spices, is the perfect accompaniment to crispy, salty tortilla chips. Many renowned chefs and restaurants in Texas have put their own spin on this classic dish, with some adding ingredients like ground beef or guacamole for a unique twist. Today, the best versions of queso and chips can be found in authentic Tex-Mex eateries across Texas, where the key to a perfect queso lies in the quality of the cheese and the balance of flavors. Whether enjoyed as a starter or a snack, queso and chips continue to be a favorite among food enthusiasts.
