Ingredients
- 2 cups of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of mashed potatoes
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon of garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add water and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of mashed potatoes, 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder, and 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro to make the potato filling.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a small circle. Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center and seal the edges to form a stuffed ball. Gently roll it out into a small disc.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Carefully slide the stuffed puri into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the puri from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the potato filled puri hot with chutney or pickle. Enjoy!
