Beverage
Mexican

Mexican hot chocolate has a rich history dating back to the Mayans and Aztecs, who first cultivated cacao beans. This traditional beverage is a blend of roasted cacao, cinnamon, and often a hint of chili for a unique, spicy kick. The mixture is then combined with milk or water and frothed to create a velvety, indulgent drink. Renowned chefs like Enrique Olvera have put their own modern twist on this classic recipe, while restaurants in regions like Oaxaca and Chiapas are known for serving some of the best versions of this beloved drink. For an authentic experience, seek out a traditional molinillo, a wooden whisk used to froth the hot chocolate to perfection.
