- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Mix until well combined.

- Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Spoon some of the marinara sauce onto each roll, then place the meatballs on top. Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
The history of the meatball sub dates back to the early 20th century when Italian immigrants brought their culinary traditions to the United States. This iconic sandwich features savory meatballs smothered in marinara sauce, nestled in a soft, crusty Italian roll, and topped with melted cheese. The dish gained popularity in the Northeastern United States, particularly in cities like New York and Philadelphia, where Italian-American communities thrived. Today, the meatball sub can be found on menus across the country, with variations in the type of bread, meatball seasoning, and cheese selection. For an authentic experience, seek out a local Italian deli or pizzeria known for their homemade meatballs and fresh-baked bread.
