The Maryland Crab Feast is a beloved tradition that dates back to the 19th century, where families and friends gather to feast on steamed blue crabs caught from the Chesapeake Bay. This iconic event is a celebration of Maryland's rich seafood heritage and culinary culture. The crabs are typically seasoned with Old Bay seasoning, a blend of herbs and spices that adds a unique flavor to the crustaceans. Alongside the crabs, corn on the cob is a staple side dish, adding a sweet and juicy contrast to the savory crabs. Many renowned seafood restaurants in Maryland, such as Jimmy Cantler's Riverside Inn and The Crab Claw, are famous for their expertly prepared crab feasts. The key to a perfect Maryland Crab Feast lies in the freshness of the crabs and the seasoning, ensuring a mouthwatering experience for all seafood enthusiasts. For those unable to visit Maryland, sourcing fresh blue crabs and authentic Old Bay seasoning is crucial to recreating this iconic feast at home.
