Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cloves of minced garlic, 1/4 cup of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of lemon zest, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
- Add 1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat the shrimp evenly with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the shrimp onto skewers, if desired, for easier grilling.
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp as they can become tough.
- Remove the shrimp from the grill and place them on a serving platter. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Lemon Garlic Grilled Shrimp is a classic dish that has its roots in Mediterranean cuisine. The dish is believed to have originated in the coastal regions of Greece and Italy, where fresh seafood is abundant. The combination of zesty lemon and pungent garlic perfectly complements the natural sweetness of the shrimp, creating a burst of flavor with every bite. Renowned chefs like Jamie Oliver and Ina Garten have popularized this dish, showcasing their own unique twists on the recipe. Today, Lemon Garlic Grilled Shrimp can be found on the menus of upscale seafood restaurants and casual beachside eateries alike, especially in coastal regions where fresh shrimp is readily available. The key to perfecting this dish lies in the quality of the ingredients. Fresh, plump shrimp, vibrant lemons, and pungent garlic are essential for creating a truly memorable dish. The shrimp should be marinated in a mixture of lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, and herbs before being grilled to perfection. For those looking for a famous alternative method, the Cajun-inspired version of Lemon Garlic Grilled Shrimp, known for its bold spices and smoky flavor, is a must-try. Whether enjoyed as an appetizer, main course, or part of a seafood feast, Lemon Garlic Grilled Shrimp continues to be a beloved dish that captures the essence of coastal dining.
