- 1/4 cup of honey
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of honey, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.

- Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the glazed shrimp to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.
- Serve the spicy honey glazed shrimp immediately as an appetizer or over rice as a main course. Enjoy!
The history of honey glazed shrimp with a spicy kick can be traced back to the fusion of Asian and Southern cuisines. This delectable dish combines the sweetness of honey with the heat of spicy seasonings, creating a tantalizing flavor profile. Renowned chefs in the Southern United States, particularly in coastal regions, have perfected this dish, infusing it with their own unique twists. The best versions of this dish can be found in seafood restaurants along the Gulf Coast, where fresh shrimp is abundant. To achieve the perfect balance of flavors, it's crucial to use high-quality honey and a blend of fiery spices. For a famous alternative method, some chefs incorporate a touch of sriracha or cayenne pepper for an extra fiery kick.
