Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 block (14 oz) of firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of mixed vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, snap peas, etc.)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 1 teaspoon of cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon of water
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the tofu cubes with 1/4 cup of cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the mixed vegetables and sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return the crispy tofu and mixed vegetables to the skillet, tossing to coat everything in the honey garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy the Honey Garlic Tofu with Mixed Vegetables over steamed rice or noodles.
