Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  • Cut 1 pound of seitan into bite-sized pieces and place in a large bowl. Pour half of the hoisin glaze over the seitan and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Set aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated seitan and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and crispy.
  • Pour the remaining hoisin glaze over the seitan in the skillet and stir to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken.
  • Pour the cornstarch slurry into the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot over rice or noodles. Enjoy!
