Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh chopped herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, and parsley)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 8 ounces of pasta (such as fettuccine or penne)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup olive oil, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated chicken breasts for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Remove from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- While the chicken is grilling, cook the pasta according to the package instructions. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the asparagus to the boiling water. Drain the pasta and asparagus, then set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Add the cooked pasta and asparagus to the skillet with the creamy garlic sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve the grilled lemon herb chicken slices on top of the creamy garlic asparagus pasta. Enjoy!
The Grilled Lemon Herb Chicken and Asparagus Pasta with a creamy garlic sauce is a delightful fusion of flavors and textures. This dish has its roots in Mediterranean cuisine, where the use of fresh herbs, citrus, and creamy sauces is prevalent. Renowned chefs like Jamie Oliver and Ina Garten have popularized their versions of this dish, adding their unique twists to the recipe. The best version of this dish can be found in upscale Italian restaurants or Mediterranean bistros, where the chefs pay meticulous attention to grilling the chicken to perfection and infusing the creamy garlic sauce with just the right balance of flavors. The key to nailing this dish lies in marinating the chicken with zesty lemon and aromatic herbs, grilling the asparagus to tender-crisp perfection, and creating a velvety garlic sauce that coats the pasta luxuriously. For a unique twist, some chefs also incorporate sun-dried tomatoes or roasted red peppers for an added depth of flavor. Whether enjoyed in a cozy trattoria or prepared at home, this dish is a celebration of fresh, vibrant ingredients and harmonious flavors.
