  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub the mixture all over the chicken drumsticks.
  • Place the seasoned drumsticks on the grill and cook for 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush the drumsticks with BBQ sauce, turning and brushing every minute until caramelized and sticky.

  • Once the chicken and fries are done, sprinkle the fries with chopped parsley and additional parmesan cheese if desired. Serve the grilled BBQ chicken drumsticks with the garlic parmesan fries and enjoy!

Grilled BBQ Chicken Drumsticks have a rich history, originating in the southern United States. This dish is a staple at backyard barbecues and family gatherings, loved for its smoky flavor and tender, juicy meat. The chicken is marinated in a tangy, sweet BBQ sauce, then grilled to perfection, creating a caramelized crust that locks in the succulent flavors. The addition of a side of garlic parmesan fries adds a delicious twist, offering a savory and crispy complement to the smoky chicken. This dish is a favorite at renowned barbecue joints across the South, where skilled pitmasters elevate the flavors with their signature techniques. For the best version of this dish, head to Memphis, Tennessee, where the BBQ scene is legendary. The key to perfecting this dish lies in the balance of the BBQ marinade and the grilling technique, ensuring that the chicken remains moist and flavorful. Alternatively, some chefs opt for a slow-cooking method, infusing the chicken with smoky flavors over several hours, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Whether grilled or slow-cooked, the star of the show is the succulent chicken, paired with the irresistible crunch of garlic parmesan fries, creating a mouthwatering combination that's hard to resist.
