Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 8 ounces of mozzarella cheese, sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Using a sharp knife, make diagonal cuts in the bread, about 1 inch apart, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper.
  • Carefully spread the garlic herb butter mixture in between the slices of the bread, making sure to coat each slice evenly.
  • Insert the slices of mozzarella cheese in between the slices of the bread, distributing it evenly throughout the loaf.
  • Wrap the stuffed bread in aluminum foil, leaving the top slightly open to allow the cheese to melt and the bread to crisp up.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, then open the foil and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the bread is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Garlic bread stuffed with mozzarella and herbs is a delectable twist on the classic garlic bread. This indulgent dish has its roots in Italian cuisine, where the love for garlic and cheese runs deep. The combination of gooey mozzarella, fragrant herbs, and crispy bread creates a mouthwatering experience that has captivated food enthusiasts worldwide. Renowned chefs like Jamie Oliver and Giada De Laurentiis have popularized this dish, infusing their own unique flair into the recipe. In Italy, particularly in the regions of Tuscany and Campania, this dish is a beloved antipasto, often served alongside a glass of Chianti or Prosecco. For the best version of this dish, seek out a bakery or restaurant that uses freshly baked bread, high-quality mozzarella, and a generous amount of garlic and herbs. The key to achieving the perfect balance of flavors lies in the quality of ingredients and the careful preparation of the bread. Alternatively, home cooks can experiment with different variations, such as adding sun-dried tomatoes or using a blend of Italian cheeses for a more complex flavor profile. Whether enjoyed as an appetizer, a side dish, or a standalone treat, garlic bread stuffed with mozzarella and herbs is a true celebration of indulgence and culinary creativity.
