Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar.
- In a small bowl, dissolve 1 packet of active dry yeast in 1 cup of warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Pour the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small round loaf.
- Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a sharp knife, make a small cross on the top of each loaf.
