Turkish

The history of Doner Kebab dates back to the 19th century in Turkey, where it was first created by Ottoman Turks. This iconic dish consists of seasoned meat, typically lamb, beef, or chicken, stacked on a vertical rotisserie and slow-roasted to perfection. The meat is then thinly sliced and served in a pita or flatbread with fresh vegetables and a variety of sauces. Doner Kebab has since spread across the globe, becoming a beloved street food in many countries. In Germany, it's particularly popular, thanks to Turkish immigrants who brought their culinary traditions. Today, the best Doner Kebab can be found in Istanbul, where skilled chefs meticulously prepare the meat and assemble the perfect kebab. The key to a delicious Doner Kebab lies in the marination of the meat and the slow, consistent rotation on the rotisserie, ensuring a tender and flavorful result. While the traditional method involves lamb, modern variations may feature beef, chicken, or even vegetarian options, catering to diverse palates. Whether enjoyed as a quick bite on the go or a satisfying meal, Doner Kebab continues to captivate food enthusiasts worldwide.
