Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup of marinara sauce
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, mix together 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast in the beaten egg, then dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, coating evenly.
- Place the coated chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Pour 1 cup of marinara sauce over the chicken breasts.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken during the last 10 minutes of cooking, allowing it to melt and bubble.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, before serving.
