Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- For the dough:
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (110-115°F)
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 3 1/2 - 4 cups all-purpose flour
- For the filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- For the cream cheese glaze:
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve 1 package of active dry yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, mixing well after each addition. Add additional flour if needed to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch the dough down and roll it out into a 16x12 inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans.
- Roll up the dough jelly-roll style, starting with a long side. Cut into 12 slices. Place the slices in a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake the sticky buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then invert onto a serving platter.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Gradually add milk until the glaze reaches desired consistency.
- Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm sticky buns. Serve and enjoy!
