Spicy Chicken Parmigiana
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup spicy marinara sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, then season with salt and pepper.
- Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and coat with the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small saucepan, heat the spicy marinara sauce over medium heat. Stir in the red pepper flakes, dried oregano, and garlic powder. Let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.
- Place the browned chicken breasts in a baking dish. Spoon the spicy marinara sauce over the chicken, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the chicken is cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
- Serve the spicy Chicken Parmigiana with pasta or a side salad. Enjoy!
