- 12 ounces of penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a baking dish with olive oil.

- Once the chicken is cooked, spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- To serve, divide the cooked penne pasta among four plates, then top each serving with a chicken breast and additional marinara sauce if desired. Enjoy!
Chicken Parmesan with Penne, also known as Chicken Parmigiana, is a classic Italian-American dish that has become a staple in many households and restaurants. This hearty and comforting dish consists of breaded and fried chicken cutlets, topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, served alongside al dente penne pasta. The origins of Chicken Parmesan are rooted in Southern Italian cuisine, with some claiming it originated in the Campania region. However, its popularity in the United States can be attributed to Italian immigrants who brought their culinary traditions with them. Today, this dish can be found on the menus of countless Italian restaurants across the globe. Chefs and home cooks alike take pride in perfecting the crispy chicken, flavorful marinara, and gooey cheese that make this dish so beloved. For the best Chicken Parmesan with Penne, seek out restaurants that use high-quality ingredients and pay attention to detail in their preparation. The key to a standout Chicken Parmesan lies in the balance of flavors and textures, from the tender chicken to the rich tomato sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. While the traditional recipe calls for chicken, some variations use eggplant or veal as the main protein. Additionally, for a healthier twist, some chefs opt for baking the chicken instead of frying it. Regardless of the method, the dish is always served with a generous portion of penne pasta, making it a satisfying and indulgent meal. For those looking to recreate this dish at home, sourcing fresh, ripe tomatoes for the marinara sauce and using high-quality mozzarella and Parmesan cheese are essential. The key to achieving the perfect Chicken Parmesan with Penne lies in the careful balance of flavors and the execution of each component, resulting in a dish that is both comforting and full of Italian-American flair.
