Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 bundles of naengmyeon noodles
- 1/2 cup of gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 1/4 cup of rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 pound of beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1/2 cucumber, julienned
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 1/4 cup of pickled radish, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds
- 4 cups of ice cubes
Instructions
- Cook the naengmyeon noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and rinse the noodles under cold water. Place the noodles in a large bowl and add the ice cubes to keep them cold. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and black pepper to make the bibim sauce. Set aside.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the beef slices with vegetable oil and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from the grill and set aside.
- To assemble the bibim naengmyeon, divide the cold noodles among serving bowls. Top each bowl with the grilled beef, julienned cucumber, sliced hard-boiled eggs, and pickled radish.
- Drizzle the bibim sauce over the toppings and noodles. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
- Toss the noodles and toppings together before eating to mix the sauce evenly. Enjoy the refreshing and spicy flavors of bibim naengmyeon with grilled beef topping.
Bibim Naengmyeon, a popular Korean dish, has a rich history dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. This cold and spicy noodle dish was traditionally served without any toppings. However, in modern times, the addition of grilled beef has become a popular variation, adding a savory and smoky flavor to the dish. The tender, marinated beef is grilled to perfection, then thinly sliced and placed on top of the cold noodles. This combination of spicy noodles and succulent beef creates a delightful contrast of flavors and textures. Today, this delectable dish can be enjoyed in various Korean restaurants, especially in the bustling streets of Seoul. The key to a perfect Bibim Naengmyeon with grilled beef topping lies in the quality of the beef and the balance of the spicy sauce. For those looking to recreate this dish at home, marinating the beef with a blend of soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic is essential for achieving an authentic flavor. Whether enjoyed in a traditional Korean eatery or homemade with care, Bibim Naengmyeon with grilled beef topping is a true delight for the senses.
