Beef Stroganoff, a classic Russian dish, has a spicy twist that adds a kick to its rich and creamy flavors. This dish originated in 19th century Russia, named after the influential Stroganov family. The original recipe featured sautéed beef strips in a sour cream and mustard sauce, but the spicy version incorporates ingredients like paprika, cayenne pepper, and hot sauce for an extra punch. Chefs in Moscow and St. Petersburg have put their own spin on this dish, infusing it with local spices and herbs. Today, the best spicy Beef Stroganoff can be found in trendy restaurants in urban Russian cities. To make this dish at home, it's crucial to get the balance of heat and creaminess just right, and to use high-quality beef for the best flavor. For a unique twist, some chefs also add a splash of vodka to the sauce for an extra layer of complexity.
