  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups of shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup of sour cream
  • 1/4 cup of salsa

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the skillet and season with 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place one flour tortilla in the skillet and sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded Mexican cheese blend over the tortilla. Add 1/4 of the cooked beef on one half of the tortilla. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of diced tomatoes and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh cilantro over the beef. Fold the tortilla in half to cover the filling.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and filling ingredients.
  • Cut each quesadilla into wedges and serve with sour cream and salsa on the side. Enjoy!

The beef quesadilla has a rich history rooted in Mexican cuisine. This beloved dish features a savory filling of seasoned beef and gooey melted cheese, sandwiched between two crispy tortillas. Originating in northern Mexico, the quesadilla has evolved over time, with various regions adding their own unique twists. Renowned chefs like Rick Bayless have popularized this dish, elevating it to a gourmet level. Today, the best beef quesadillas can be found in authentic Mexican eateries, where the key lies in using high-quality, well-seasoned beef and the perfect blend of cheeses. For a unique twist, some chefs incorporate alternative ingredients like caramelized onions or roasted peppers.
