Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to create a batter.
  • Place 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
  • Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, then roll it in the panko breadcrumbs, ensuring it is evenly coated. Place the coated florets on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake the cauliflower in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  • While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the spicy sriracha BBQ glaze. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce, 2 tablespoons of sriracha sauce, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the glaze thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
  • Once the cauliflower is done baking, remove it from the oven and transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the spicy sriracha BBQ glaze over the cauliflower and toss to coat evenly.
  • Serve the spicy sriracha BBQ cauliflower wings immediately, and enjoy!

Originating in the United States, this dish has gained traction in the plant-based food movement. Chefs across the country have put their own spin on this recipe, infusing it with regional flavors and techniques. The key to perfecting this dish lies in achieving the ideal balance of smoky BBQ flavor and the fiery kick of sriracha. Some renowned restaurants, such as in the Pacific Northwest, have mastered this dish, elevating it to a must-try for food enthusiasts.
