Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 cup almond paste
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of almond paste, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter, and 1 teaspoon of almond extract. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a 10x15 inch rectangle. Cut into 8 equal squares.
- Place a spoonful of the almond mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling, forming a pinwheel shape. Press the edges to seal.
- Brush the pastries with beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
