The Waldorf Astoria Salad, a timeless classic, was first created in the late 1800s at the iconic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Originally a simple combination of apples, celery, and mayonnaise, it has evolved over the years to include ingredients like grapes, walnuts, and grilled chicken for a heartier twist. Renowned chefs at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel have perfected this dish, ensuring a delightful balance of flavors and textures. Today, the best version of this salad can still be found at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where the grilled chicken is expertly prepared to add a smoky, savory element to the crisp, refreshing salad. The key to getting this dish right lies in the quality of the ingredients and the perfect grilling of the chicken, ensuring it remains juicy and flavorful. For a famous alternative method, some chefs marinate the chicken in a blend of herbs and spices before grilling, adding an extra layer of complexity to the dish.
