Vegetable Parmesan, also known as Eggplant Parmesan, is a classic Italian dish that has been enjoyed for centuries. This delectable dish features layers of breaded and fried vegetables, such as eggplant, zucchini, or mushrooms, smothered in rich marinara sauce and topped with a generous amount of Parmesan and mozzarella cheese. The origins of this dish can be traced back to Southern Italy, where it was first created by talented chefs using the freshest local ingredients. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in authentic Italian restaurants, particularly in the regions of Campania and Sicily. The key to a perfect Vegetable Parmesan lies in the quality of the cheese and the flavorful marinara sauce. For a delicious twist, some chefs also add extra cheese, such as provolone or fontina, to elevate the dish to new heights of cheesy goodness. Whether enjoyed as a main course or a side dish, Vegetable Parmesan with extra cheese is a true Italian culinary delight that continues to captivate food lovers around the world.
