Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Add the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, ground ginger, nutmeg, and black pepper to the boiling water.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the spices and tea steep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Strain the tea into mugs, discarding the spices and tea bags.
  • Warm 1/2 cup of almond milk in a separate saucepan or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  • Pour a splash of warm almond milk into each mug of chai tea, stirring gently to combine.
