Ingredients
- 2 cups of water
- 2 black tea bags
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 whole cloves
- 4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of almond milk
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, ground ginger, nutmeg, and black pepper to the boiling water.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the spices and tea steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Strain the tea into mugs, discarding the spices and tea bags.
- Warm 1/2 cup of almond milk in a separate saucepan or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
- Pour a splash of warm almond milk into each mug of chai tea, stirring gently to combine.
