Turkish

Turkish kofte, also known as köfte, is a traditional meatball dish that has been a staple of Turkish cuisine for centuries. It is made from ground meat, usually lamb or beef, mixed with spices, onions, and herbs. The mixture is then shaped into small balls or patties and either grilled, fried, or baked. Each region in Turkey has its own unique variation of kofte, with different spices and cooking methods. Some renowned chefs and restaurants in Turkey, such as Çiya in Istanbul, are famous for their exceptional kofte. The key to a perfect kofte lies in the balance of spices and the quality of the meat. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in traditional Turkish restaurants and street food stalls across the country. For a twist, some chefs also prepare vegetarian kofte using ingredients like bulgur, lentils, and chickpeas, offering a delicious alternative for non-meat eaters.
