The mixture is then shaped into small balls or patties and grilled, fried, or baked. This savory dish has a rich history dating back to the Ottoman Empire and is a staple in Turkish households and restaurants. One renowned chef known for his exceptional Turkish Kofta is Mehmet Gürs, who has gained international acclaim for his modern take on traditional Turkish cuisine at his restaurant, Mikla, located in Istanbul. The region of Gaziantep is also famous for its köfte, known for its use of spicy and flavorful ingredients. The key to a delicious Turkish Kofta lies in the perfect blend of spices, such as cumin, paprika, and mint, as well as the quality of the meat. While traditionally made with lamb or beef, there are also delicious variations using chicken or even vegetarian ingredients like chickpeas or lentils.
