Ingredients
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 2 cans (5 oz each) of tuna, drained
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion in butter until softened.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the drained tuna, frozen peas, salt, and black pepper to the skillet and mix well.
- Fold in the cooked egg noodles until everything is well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top of the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
