Mexican

Tostadas have a rich history dating back to ancient Mesoamerican civilizations. This traditional Mexican dish consists of a crispy, fried or toasted tortilla topped with various ingredients such as refried beans, meat, cheese, lettuce, and salsa. The origins of tostadas can be traced to the Aztecs, who would grill or fry leftover tortillas to prevent waste. Today, tostadas are a popular street food in Mexico and can be found in many authentic Mexican restaurants worldwide. Chefs like Rick Bayless and Diana Kennedy have popularized this dish, emphasizing the importance of using fresh, high-quality ingredients. For the best tostadas, seek out restaurants in Mexico City or Oaxaca, where you can savor the authentic flavors and textures of this beloved dish. Whether it's the crunch of the tortilla or the savory toppings, every element plays a crucial role in creating the perfect tostada.
