Extra Spicy Szechuan Beef with Broccoli

Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2-3 tbsp Szechuan peppercorns
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- Salt to taste
- Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup chicken broth and 2 tsp cornstarch. Set aside.
- In a wok or large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil over high heat.
- Add 2-3 tbsp Szechuan peppercorns and 2-3 dried red chilies. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the thinly sliced flank steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Add 4 cloves minced garlic and 1 inch minced ginger. Stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Add 2 cups broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the wok. Add 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tbsp hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar, and salt to taste. Stir to combine.
- Pour in the chicken broth and cornstarch mixture. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
- Serve the extra spicy Szechuan beef with broccoli over cooked white rice. Enjoy!
