Steamed clams have a rich history dating back to the early days of American cuisine. This classic dish has been a staple in coastal regions, particularly in New England, where fresh seafood is abundant. Chefs and home cooks alike have perfected the art of steaming clams, infusing them with flavors of garlic, white wine, and herbs. The best version of this dish can be found in renowned seafood restaurants along the East Coast, where the clams are sourced locally and prepared with expertise. The key to a perfect steamed clam dish lies in using the freshest clams and mastering the steaming process to ensure they are tender and flavorful. For a unique twist, some chefs incorporate bacon or spicy chorizo to add depth to the dish. Whether enjoyed as an appetizer or a main course, steamed clams continue to be a beloved seafood delicacy.
