Spicy Szechuan Beef

Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 4 green onions, sliced
- Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Toss to coat the beef and set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes, and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in 1/2 cup of chicken broth, 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the beef is heated through.
- Stir in the sliced green onions and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Serve the spicy Szechuan beef over cooked white rice and enjoy!
