Indonesian

Spicy Sated is a traditional Indonesian dish originating from the island of Java. This flavorful and aromatic dish features skewered and grilled meat, typically chicken or beef, marinated in a rich blend of spices and served with a luscious peanut sauce. The dish is a popular street food in Indonesia, with vendors expertly grilling the meat over charcoal, infusing it with a smoky flavor. The key to a delicious Spicy Sated lies in the marinade, which often includes a mix of turmeric, coriander, lemongrass, and tamarind, creating a tantalizing blend of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors. For the best Spicy Sated experience, head to the bustling streets of Jakarta or Bali, where skilled chefs craft this dish to perfection. Alternatively, for a unique twist, consider trying the vegetarian version with tofu or tempeh, which offers a delightful alternative to the traditional meat skewers.
