Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk and 1 egg.
- Place 2 cups of panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dip each shrimp into the seasoned flour, then into the milk and egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the shrimp from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the spicy popplers hot with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
