  • 3-4 jalapenos, seeded and diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine 2 lbs of ground beef, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup diced onion, diced jalapenos, minced garlic, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, and 1/2 tsp paprika. Mix until well combined.

The history of the spicy jalapeno meatloaf with a bacon-wrapped exterior can be traced back to the southern United States, where the combination of bold flavors and hearty comfort food has always been celebrated. This unique twist on traditional meatloaf was popularized by Chef Bobby Flay, known for his innovative approach to classic American dishes. The dish quickly gained popularity in the foodie scene, with restaurants across the country putting their own spin on it. Today, the best version of this dish can be found in barbecue joints and Southern-style eateries, where the smoky bacon and spicy jalapeno flavors are expertly balanced. To make this dish at home, it's crucial to get the meatloaf mixture just right, with the perfect blend of ground meat, spices, and of course, plenty of diced jalapenos for that fiery kick.
