Instructions

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Grill the Italian sausage links for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
  • In a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bell pepper and onion, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • Season the vegetables with Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  • Once the sausage is cooked, remove from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
  • While the sausage is resting, open the hoagie rolls and place a slice of provolone cheese on one side of each roll.
  • Place the rolls with cheese under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Slice the Italian sausage links in half lengthwise.
  • Place the grilled sausage halves on the other side of the hoagie rolls.
  • Top the sausage with the sautéed bell peppers and onions.
